Aims & Objectives
Aims:
- To further develop a strong, sustainable and genuine cross-border and cross-community partnership between the communities of Riverstown and Brookeborough and the surrounding areas.
- To work to build reconciliation at local community level and cross-border.
- To build positive relationships by promoting and facilitating understanding and respect among communities at a local level and across the border through interaction and dialogue.
- To maximise the opportunities to enable more people to engage in peace building activity, provide increased opportunities for integration and to ensure that missing voices are included in the process. A particular effort will be made to increase the involvement of youth
- To liaise, where possible, with others in the community, statutory and voluntary sectors in Sligo and Fermanagh to further develop peace and reconciliation within the counties and across the border.
Objectives:
- To create a space for people where integration and dialogue on ‘difference’ as well as common concerns and shared interests can happen, a space where we can begin to acknowledge the past and work towards resolution at local community level.
- To recognise that peace building is a process and that people are at different stages within the process and have different needs and to provide a range of activities to meet those different needs.
- To create opportunities for inter-cultural experiences where we can come to a greater understanding of our own cultural traditions and identify as well as that of others
- To ensure participant ownership of the process.
